My name is Yaron Samid. Friends call me WhyMan. My better half is Orly, my better version is Yoav. They are my Light and my Joy. Like my son, I was born asking “Why?” and hope to live the rest of my days actively pursuing the quest for truth that comes along with it.
I’m an entrepreneur. I conceive and design products and build companies that carry my passion for user-centric, design-driven, practical innovation. You can read about my professional path here. My most recent adventure is Pando Networks. In the summer of 2004 I started Pando out of our New York City apartment after realizing first hand from my previous startup that the Internet wasn’t built with video in mind. At Pando we’ve developed a next generation content delivery platform powered by nifty hybrid P2P technology. Over 18 million people use our software to share their life, creativity and media with family and friends, and media giants such as NBC use our technology to distribute HD video online.
I consider it a privilege to share my experience with creative thinkers and to help them make their dreams come true. I organize two entrepreneur peer groups in New York — www.NYVideo.org and www.NYIsrael.org. These monthly meetup groups bring together hundreds of like-minded professionals and students to support each other by showcasing and discussing innovative local startups and businesses. I serve on the board of Aprigo, am an executive committee member of Tevel.org, advise startups and scout for investors.
